Helpdesk Engineer

We are looking for a candidate with good technical experience from a helpdesk background within the London area.

Working hours: 8 AM to 5 PM with a 1-hour lunch break
OOH on call: 1 week in rotation with other engineers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Troubleshooting and performing diagnostics
  • Liaising with suppliers to resolve issues
  • Testing and providing solutions to end users
  • Supporting and training junior engineers
  • Work within SLAs and adhere to all processes and procedures
  • Manage and prioritize incidents/requests effectively
  • Upgrade network elements as and when needed
  • Keeping customers informed at all times on the progress of a ticket
  • Taking calls from customers and providing remote support over the phone
  • Where remote fix is not possible, liaise with the engineering team for site visits.

Required knowledge and level of experience:

  • 2 to 3 years of experience in a helpdesk environment.
  • Experience in supporting Cisco switch stack administration via CLI
  • Knowledge of Debian GNU/Linux
  • Knowledge and experience with routing concepts. BGP is essential
  • VLANs, trunking, Q-in-Q, TCP/IP, SIP, STP, DNS, DHCP
  • Wi-Fi troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with Wireshark/TShark tools

Desirable experience:

  • Some VMWare virtualization experience
  • Good understanding of firewalls
  • Network management systems OpenNMS and Icinga
