Salary: starting at £24,724 FTE per annum, raising to £27,232 FTE per annum*

Hours:
Full-time (37 hours per week)
Face to face and online training - 2 days a week
Clinical work across Manchester - 3 days a week
Training Location: Greater Manchester Mental Health Psychological Therapies Training Centre, Prestwich Hospital, Bury New Road, Manchester M25 3BL
Placement Location: Family Action Children Centres across North and South Manchester

Starting January 2025 - Fixed Term Contract for 1 Year
Potential to become a permanent post on completion of the course
Qualification Gained: Postgraduate Diploma in Psychological Therapies with Children and Young People: Parent Training Pathway Validated by the University of Manchester & accredited by The British Association of Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies.

Family Action is looking to recruit two Trainee Parenting Practitioners for a fantastic opportunity to complete funded training for a Postgraduate Diploma whilst being paid and gaining valuable work experience in therapeutic supportive services for parents and carers with children.
This full time programme provides health and social care professionals the opportunity to complete high quality training in the key skills required to be an evidence-based practitioner working in Parenting (PT), completing the CYP Evidence Based Training.
Trainees will obtain clinical experience in Incredible Years group delivery and individual home coach training to parents of children under 5. The programme will consist of model specific supervision in Incredible Years and include teaching on PT skills-based workshops, as well as evidence-based theory and literature relating to supporting the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children between the ages of 3 and 10 years old and their parents/carers.
On successful completion of the programme, you will be awarded a Post Graduate Diploma, plus eligibility to apply for Individual Evidence Based Parent Practitioner BABCP Provisional Accreditation.
Main Requirements:
- Two years post-qualification in a core profession as defined by the BABCP (e.g. Health Visitors, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, etc). Please see Core Professions (babcp.com) OR
- For candidates with a differing profession e.g. youth workers, support workers, IAG workers etc, a minimum of 4 years' experience of working with children, young people and families (including parenting work) is required. These applicants will apply via the Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes (KSA) route which includes:
- Completion of KSA portfolio following successful interview - support will be given to complete this
- Membership of the BABCP
It is also a requirement that all candidates hold a:
- Relevant Honours Degree graded at 2.2 or above OR
- Candidates who don't have an undergraduate degree and have been successful at interview are required to complete a short, written task to satisfy The University of Manchester's entry policy to postgraduate programmes
- The ability to start the training programme from January 2025 and to commit to the full 12 months of training and clinical work
- The role requires regular travel to Prestwich Hospital and home visits across Manchester therefore a driving license, with access to a car and car insurance for commuting is desirable, or willing to use public transport
