Chartered Architect - Departmental Lead
£45,000+ DOE

A leading firm is seeking a talented Chartered Architect to join their dynamic team as the Departmental Lead. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to take on a leadership role in designing, project managing, and delivering a broad range of building-related projects. The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary design teams, manage projects from conception to completion, and ensure high-quality delivery within budget and on time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake the design, specification, and project management of building projects in a lead role.
  • Lead multidisciplinary design teams on projects, coordinating from initial conception to detailed design, tender, and on-site delivery.
  • Ensure projects meet client expectations for quality, timing, and budget.
  • Manage projects through planning applications, building regulations, and listed consent processes.
  • Supervise external consultants within the design team to meet KPIs and maintain quality standards.
  • Provide specialist technical advice and support within the practice.
  • Generate fees for the Architect Department.
  • Lead and manage a team of two Architectural Technicians.
  • Engage in proactive liaison with other consultants and disciplines within the practice.
  • Lead discussions on architectural-related issues.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Professionally qualified, ARB registered Architect with a relevant degree (or equivalent) and post-qualification experience.
  • Member of ARB and preferably other professional bodies such as RIBA.
  • Proven track record in architectural design and delivery.
  • Experience working with a range of clients and service users.
  • Ability to organise, guide, and lead multi-discipline design teams.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of architectural design principles, theory, and practice.
  • Understanding of related building and engineering disciplines.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Photoshop (or similar software).
  • Experience across all six RIBA work-stages.
  • Excellent client-facing and communication skills.
