Insurance Manual Test Analyst

Salary: Upto £35,000 pa Plus Benefits

Location: Halifax commutable from Bradford, Leeds, Wakefield, Huddersfield, Barnsley, Oldham, Skipton, Keighley and surrounding areas.

Initially 2 days per week working in the office for the first month or two (Accommodation costs covered for those candidates out of the area). Once settled, the role will be effectively remote, coming into Halifax for team meetings or training circa once or twice a quarter.

The Company

This highly successful technology focused corporate is seeking a quality focused Manual Test Analyst with experience of QA & testing within the Insurance industry. You will be joining an established test team who will provide support & guidance as you get upto speed, working alongside you in the office 2 days per week, with the other 3 days per week delivered from home. Once confident in your role & duties, you can then look to work remotely, only needing to go into the office for occasional meetings and training.

Role Summary:

The Manual Test Analyst will be responsible for applying the relevant test principles, processes and techniques as part of an Agile Software Team, contributing artefacts in order to support delivery of secure quality software.

The role requires the Manual Test Analyst to be proficient in manual testing techniques combined with good knowledge and detailed experience of Insurance & Insurance Underwriting (Previous experience working within an Insurer or Insurance Broker is ideal!).

You will support the delivery of a high quality, on-time product releases by effective testing. Ensuring functional and non-functional requirements of the application are met in accordance with company guidelines and best practice.

You will devise the appropriate testing regimes to ensure the quality assurance of the software is achieved.

Alongside other test team members, you will also work closely with business analysts, architects and developers, assisting in the requirements reviews and bridging the gap between requirements, test planning (functional, regression testing).

Provide assistance to the test lead during planning and estimation sessions to challenge estimates as necessary.

Provide support to Insurance clients when they release new rates & rules, or to Insurers who have system/functionality queries or issues.

Support all phases of test / warranty as required

To adequately test application / software, demonstrating the components meet all functional & non-functional requirements.

Preferred Knowledge & Skills:

Current or previous experience working within an Insurer or Insurance Broker, with detailed knowledge of Insurance Underwriting and the terminology used.

Experience as a Manual Test Analyst or Manual Test Engineer

Previous experience testing insurance systems, new insurance rates / rules, insurance applications or insurance products is required, together with the understanding of insurance & underwriting terminology.

Be able to investigate complex problems reported by internal and external customers, good attention to detail is required

Once settled, be comfortable joining the weekly update call, sharing progress on problems & issues under investigation

Experience of Linux systems & commands are useful but not essential

Knowledge or experience of the Agile methodology is useful

Strong analytical skills combined with good attention to detail is expected

The ability to rapidly prototype new solutions and willingness to contribute with your own ideas

Previous experience of automated test tools is useful but not essential as the business will move to automated testing in the future and will develop their automated testing skills as a team
