Adecco Public Sector is proud to be working with the London Borough of Camden, seeking to appoint a new Building Surveyor (Project Management) , within their Commercial Property Team.

Our vision is that 'In 2025, everyone in Camden should have a place they call home' and the community investment programme (CIP) is playing a key part in that by building new genuinely affordable homes and community facilities. We have completed nearly 1,000 homes to date through CIP including over 500 council rent and affordable homes, built new community centres and schools and invested in school buildings across the borough. We have ambitious plans in place to build thousands more homes.

The Council owns 33,000 homes, of which 9,000 are leasehold, c.1000 commercial properties, 150 corporate buildings and maintains 49 schools and children's centres.

The roleReporting to Technical Lead, you will be responsible for the Landlord's side project management of the tenant's fit out works of commercial let areas of Camden Town Hall (Judd Street).

This role is responsible for ensuring, with the assistant of external consultants, that the tenant is carrying out their fit out works as approved by the licence to alter agreement, co-ordinate the tenant's fit out programme of works with the Council's building service users and activities, have regular communications/meetings with relevant stakeholders, deal with any complaints and/or issues arising, production of update reports for project sponsor / directors / councillors, and supervise and manage of external consultants. Also, dealing with other issues/matters relating to Town Hall project.

About you

Are you a seasoned professional in building surveying with a degree in the field and relevant experience? Do you hold a professional membership with organizations such as RICS, CIOB, CIBSE, or CABE? If so, we are looking for someone like you to join our team.

Your expertise in project managing of complex and large refurbishment projects particularly works being carried out in occupied/live building and therefore requiring experience in programme co-ordination with building stakeholders. Also, managing contractors and FM services contracts, along with your ability to draft detailed technical specifications for building fabric and M&E works, will be invaluable. Your significant technical knowledge and surveying experience, coupled with excellent interpersonal, influencing, and negotiating skills, make you the ideal candidate for this role. You will excel in risk management, adhering to policies and procedures to meet our objectives. While expertise in educational building maintenance and asset management is desirable, your fluency in IT, especially with MS Word, MS Excel, and asset or facilities management databases, is essential. We value your ability to innovate and take initiative while being a supportive team player. Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal, are crucial, as is your commitment to furthering Camden's sustainability, and environmental objectives in construction and building maintenance.

Work Environment

The post holder will be required to carry out regular and frequent visits to residential, commercial and educational buildings to inspect, specify and manage works; this will involve visits to dirty and noisy building sites and wearing personal protective equipment.
