Financial Director

An outstanding new role has arisen within a specialist Insurance group and is responsible for the smooth running of the organisation's finance department.

This entails monitoring business performance, monitoring cash flow, overseeing the planning process, supervising the finance team, managing the audit process, developing financial models, working with the underwriters on premium reporting and preparation and submission of monthly reporting and controlling the Management Information output for the business.

Responsible for providing financial advice and support to help senior executives make key decisions.

Main Duties

  • Develop and control the Company's annual operating budget to ensure that all financial targets are met.
  • Oversee the preparation of the Company's financial accounts to ensure that these are presented accurately and on time.
  • Assist in company-wide budgetary planning.
  • Ensure that all of the company's financial practices are in line in statutory regulations and legislation
  • Interpret complex financial information and provide updates and information as needed.
  • Producing and submitting monthly bordereau reporting to the underwriters.
  • Producing and submitting all regulatory data.
  • Monitor cash flow, accounts, and other financial transactions
  • Working with Commercial Director and Managing Director to set and implement pricing policies and commercial agreements.
  • Direct finance staff to ensure that they are appropriately motivated and developed and so that they carry out their responsibilities.
  • Prepare official reports on a monthly and annual basis • Seek out methods and practices to minimise financial risk
  • Contribute to the achievement of the Company's business objectives by providing advice and guidance on financial strategy.
  • Contract auditing services to ensure financial monitoring is up-to-date
  • Create and maintain relationships with service providers and contractors, including banking institutions and accountants.
  • Monitor external contracts and services provided by suppliers to ensure that these are operating effectively and provide the best value to the Company.
  • Develop and maintain all necessary systems, policies and procedures to ensure effective and efficient financial management within the Company.
  • Oversight of the Management Information for the business.
  • Responsible for the monthly and quarterly close of the financial statements and related journal entries and reconciliations of accounts, while ensuring the close dates are reached.
  • Responsible for producing monthly/quarterly financial statements and investigate fluctuations in various financial statement ratio's and other KPI's.
  • Vendor/Supplier management (ongoing assessment of third parties costs vs services)

Essential skills/experience

  • Minimum 10 years experience in finance
  • Regulated industry experience, preferably in Financial Services or Insurance.
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Exceptional leadership and organisational skills.
  • Outstanding communicational skills, both written and verbal.
  • Thorough understanding of business principles and practices
  • Ability to multi-task and manage conflicting deadlines.
  • Strong IT skills Qualifications/Systems
  • Degree educated in accounting, business, finance, or a related field.
  • Fully qualified Accountant (CIMA, ASSA, etc)

The role is available immediately and is on a hybrid basis ( office and home).
