Hatched Recruitment is working closely with the local authrities and we are looking for a Commercial Business Partner in the Islington area. 2 days on site per week.

**Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced and confident Senior Commercial Manager with a strong background in public sector procurement, particularly within large and complex environments. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in commercial roles, demonstrating a proven track record of taking personal responsibility for major commercial activities and negotiations. This role requires a resilient individual who can manage multiple projects under pressure while driving commercial transformation and innovation within departments.

**Key Responsibilities:

  • Commercial Leadership: Lead and support major commercial and confrontational negotiation activities, ensuring that all agreements align with organizational priorities and deliver value for money.
  • Stakeholder Management: Engage with key stakeholders to present commercial risks and propose effective solutions. Overcome departmental reluctance and drive commercial approaches within the organization.
  • Reporting: Provide regular reports to management and the board on deliverables, ensuring transparency and accountability in all commercial activities.
  • Strategic Review: Review complex and high-value options with a deep understanding of commercial implications. Provide assurance that agreements meet public procurement requirements and deliver value for money.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Work within the Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) methodology to manage supplier performance, support contract variations, and provide advice and direction.
  • Political and Organizational Awareness: Demonstrate an understanding of the political environment and organizational priorities, ensuring that commercial activities are aligned with these considerations.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Support and collaborate with Category Management, Procurement, and other relevant departments to utilize analysis, manage different funding streams, and drive supply transformation.
  • Market Insight and Relationship Building: Quickly source market insights and forge strong relationships with key market players to support commercial decision-making.
  • Continuous Improvement: Capture and share lessons learned from commercial activities to drive continuous improvement within the organization.

**Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • MCIPS or Equivalent: Must possess the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) certification or an equivalent qualification.
  • Public Sector Experience: Recent experience working within a large and complex public sector environment is essential.
  • Commercial Expertise: Extensive experience in a commercial role, with a strong track record of personal responsibility for commercial activities and negotiations.
  • Resilience and Multi-tasking: High levels of resilience with the ability to manage multiple projects under pressure.
  • Procurement Knowledge: Fully up to date with public procurement requirements and practices.
  • Political Awareness: Strong understanding of the political environment and organizational priorities.
  • Autonomous Delivery: Ability to work autonomously under the direction of management, with a high degree of responsibility for delivering results.
  • Market Insight: Ability to quickly source and leverage market insights to support commercial activities.
