Location: Hertfordshire (Base locations in Stevenage and Apsley)

Salary Range: £46,464 per annum, rising to £50,512 per annum (includes base salary and market enhanced payment), plus a £1,000 one-off welcome payment* (Pay Increase pending)

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: 37 per week

About Us:

At Hertfordshire County Council, our Looked After Children (CLA) teams are dedicated to supporting children aged 18 and under who are in care. We provide comprehensive services to help young people navigate their experiences, secure permanent homes, and prepare for independence. Our service is committed to working collaboratively with young people, their families, and other professionals to address their needs, support their education, and ensure their well-being. We also engage closely with our Children In Care Council to continually enhance our practices.

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Qualified Children's Senior Practitioner to join our CLA team. This role involves managing complex cases, mentoring junior staff, and implementing best practices to support children and young people in care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on complex cases involving children and young people in care.
  • Provide guidance and support to less experienced team members.
  • Conduct detailed assessments and manage care plans.
  • Work collaboratively with families, educational institutions, and health professionals.
  • Engage with the Children In Care Council to improve service delivery.

About You:

  • Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.

  • At least 2 years of post-qualification social work experience.

  • Advanced knowledge of care planning, assessments, and working with challenging families.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft IT packages.

  • Full UK Driving Licence and regular access to a vehicle.
