Job Title: Charity Shop Supervisor

Hours: 9-5 (5 out of 7 trading days, weekend availability is a must)

Salary: £24,471 per annum

Temporary Position: 3 months with flexibility to be extended to a permanent position

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our client's retail shop. As a Charity Store Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in achieving sales targets, maintaining excellent customer service, and ensuring the shop's overall efficiency. Your responsibilities will include managing stock, supervising staff, and adhering to organisational policies and values.

Responsibilities:

  1. Sales:
  • Achieve agreed-upon sales targets within income and expenditure budgets.

  • Maintain a high standard of customer service, ensuring a positive shopping experience for all visitors.

  1. Shop Appearance and Stockroom:
  • Merchandise and display products effectively.

  • Organise stock within departments.

  • Ensure cleanliness and tidiness of the shop and stockroom.

  1. Stock Management:
  • Encourage public donations of saleable goods under the Gift Aid Scheme.

  • Prepare stock for display (e.g., steam cleaning).

  • Keep the sales area fully stocked, well-priced, and properly sized.

  • Date, code, and rotate stock as needed.

  • Monitor stock levels and procure additional items as necessary.

  1. Staff Supervision:
  • Interview, recruit, and train volunteers.

  • Create and manage staff rotas to ensure adequate coverage.

  • Foster excellent customer service skills among team members.

  • Provide relevant training (e.g., health and safety, equipment usage).

  • Represent the organization professionally, adhering to policies and values.

  1. Administration:
  • Efficiently handle administrative processes (both paper-based and digital).

  • Complete daily banking of monies.

  • Comply with the Retail Operations Manual and relevant policies.

  1. Security:
  • Accurately record sales through the till system.

  • Secure all monies.

  • Regularly empty collection boxes.

  • Safeguard valuable donations.

  • Hold shop keys and ensure premises security.

  1. General Duties:
  • Familiarise yourself with accident/incident reporting procedures, first aid resources, and emergency protocols.

  • Fulfill any additional duties assigned by the Retail Area Manager or senior management.

Qualifications:

  • Previous retail experience preferred.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with volunteers and staff.
  • Commitment to maintaining a positive and welcoming shop environment.
