An academically thriving Sixth form in Tottenham are looking for an Academic Coach to start in September, working with them to support their students throughout their A-levels.

As an academic coach, you would be working on a 1-1 and small group basis with A-level students to help them improve their subject knowledge. You will also work with the class on difficult topics, revision tactics and other areas where additional guidance is needed. The school work hard to minimise the disparities some of their students may face, and to provide them with additional opportunities and support to offset this. As an academic coach, you will be supporting these students to set them up for success. They strongly believe that when their students are properly supported, they will thrive. This is where you come in. If you are looking for a role where you can make a difference, yet offers plenty of opportunity for development, then this could be the right role for you.

This is an opportunity to gain valuable experience within a supportive and uplifting environment. You will go through a well-structured and highly beneficial training programme, and after a year in the role you are given the opportunity to undertake a formal teaching qualification. This role would therefore highly benefit a recent graduate who is looking to go into teaching.

You will need:

  • An undergraduate degree in Biology/Biological Sciences
  • Minimum A Grade A-level Biology and a strong understanding of the Biology A-level curriculum
  • Experience working with children/young people in some capacity
  • A desire to train as a teacher in the near future & have a career in education
  • An understanding of the barriers some students may face
