Salary: £25,000 - £28,000 DOE

About Us: Robert Half is a leading recruitment agency, and we are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Credit Controller to join our client's finance team. This role is crucial in managing and maintaining the company's credit policies, ensuring timely payments, and minimizing bad debt.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assess the creditworthiness of new and existing customers.
  • Set up and maintain accurate credit limits.
  • Review and approve customer credit applications.
  • Monitor customer accounts to identify overdue payments.
  • Contact customers via phone, email, and letters to chase overdue invoices.
  • Negotiate payment plans with customers where necessary.
  • Issue monthly customer statements and reminder letters.
  • Reconcile customer accounts to ensure all payments are correctly allocated.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in accounts.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records of all collection activities.
  • Prepare regular reports on debtors and outstanding balances for management.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and areas of improvement.
  • Report on the status of credit and collection activities.
  • Work closely with the sales and customer service teams to resolve customer queries.
  • Liaise with external agencies, legal departments, and collection agencies when necessary.
  • Ensure all credit control procedures comply with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Recommend improvements to credit policies and procedures as necessary.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with customers to facilitate timely payments.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing customer queries and concerns promptly.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in credit control, debt collection, or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of credit management principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
