Senior Consultant - Public Affairs

This role is a fantastic opportunity for an accomplished Consultant to play a pivotal role in shaping policy within a leading public affairs firm. The successful candidate will use their skills to deliver high-quality strategic advice to clients.

Description

Client and account management

  • Manage client accounts and act as the first point of contact for clients on a day-to-day basis, responding rapidly to client requests
  • Provide clients with political/media intelligence and insight, highlighting any implications for the client's business
  • Manage account teams and exercise judgement independent of senior management
  • Manage the production of client documents including reports for publication, strategy documents and campaign plans
  • Manage and conduct research and analysis on political and policy issues relevant to clients
  • Write to a high standard for external publication, including reports, press releases, op-eds and blog posts
  • Secure high-quality media coverage for client campaigns and reports
  • Manage the organisation of events including roundtables, receptions, dinners and report launches

Expertise

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the political, business and media environment in general, and show development of expertise in one or more areas relevant to clients
  • Develop an active network of business, political and/or media contacts
  • Demonstrate strong organisation and attention to detail, including managing time effectively to client work is delivered on time to high standards

New business

  • Participate in new business activities including networking and pursuing leads, drafting pitch documents and taking part in pitches in person
  • Contribute to marketing activities

Team management

  • Support junior members of the team, including through line management and reviewing and feeding back on their work

Profile

A successful Senior Consultant in Public Affairs should have:

  • A degree in Public Policy, Political Science, or a related field
  • Proven experience in a similar role within the political and/or public affairs sector.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills
  • A keen interest in public policy and politics
  • Knowledge of the latest policy developments
  • A proactive and dynamic approach to work
