Our Team

We have an exciting opportunity in our Unsecured Credit Risk team for a Senior Unsecured Credit Risk Manager to lead our Portfolio & Financial Insight activity. You'll lead the regular credit performance review of the unsecured portfolios, presenting to senior stakeholders your findings, positively influencing the strategic direction of the portfolios. You will be responsible for delivering insight into our Unsecured portfolio as well as using your experience and expert judgement in reviewing the use of RoE models, guardrail setting analytics and forecasting across the credit card, personal loan and overdraft portfolios.

What you'll be doing

  • Develop and delivery of Credit Risk portfolio insight, oversight and opinion in support of the Head of Credit Unsecured, Chief Credit Officer and the Credit Leadership Team.
  • Manage the delivery of credit portfolio insight to ensure that existing and future trends are clearly highlighted with associated risks and recommended actions.
  • Develop a capability to enhance credit risk oversight and insight across the Unsecured credit portfolio, leveraging new data sources and tools to create best in class capability.
  • Investigate monthly impairment movements (Both Loss & IFRS9) and provide a detailed explanation for trends and variance from plan, to aid understanding of P&L reporting.
  • Maintain knowledge of regulatory changes and requirements for Card Capital, ensuring that the Commercial Leadership Team is appraised of all external developments and ongoing impacts.
  • Developing credit risk inputs to models including pricing, forecasting, and provisioning.
  • Management of the delivery of arrears and loss forecasting for unsecured portfolios with ongoing insight to ensure strategy performs in line with expectations.
  • Drive the implementation of systems, controls and inputs to models to ensure effective identification, measurement and monitoring of all credit portfolio related business and regulatory risks and challenge strategy and operational owners on their systems and controls.
  • Lead the development and delivery of a quality control capability to ensure all analysis and insight is completed to the highest standard.
  • Lead the development of portfolio level Credit RAS metrics aligned to Credit and Bank strategy to ensure safe development of the Credit portfolio.

We need you to have

  • Subject matter expertise in lending products, sector and policy, strategy, collections, operations, monitoring etc.
  • A good working knowledge of policies and procedures in credit risk management, and experience in Management Information development and best practice.
  • Ability to support multiple priorities in a fast-changing environment and prioritise effectively to manage various management team / other stakeholder expectations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with deep experience of being able to articulate complex concepts into distilled and digestible information.
  • Experience of building trusted relationships with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels, with experience of managing challenge and conflict.
  • Experience in setting strategic direction, understanding challenges and opportunities presented by the market and regulation.
  • Creative thinking, intellectual curiosity, and experienced in using presentation tools such as power BI, tableau, office etc.
  • A background in analytics, preferably using SAS.

It's a bonus if you have but not essential

  • Knowledge or experience using AI/ML in portfolio monitoring.
  • An understanding of proposition and system development.
