Senior Specialist Environmental Health & Safety EHS

Posted by Randstad Delivery (GBS).

Role: Senior Specialist Environmental Health & Safety (EHS)

Location: Witney

Pay Rate: up to £55,000

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: 12 months

Position Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Specialist in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) to join our team in ADC Alameda. This role is crucial in ensuring a safe and compliant work environment by developing, implementing, and managing EHS policies and programs. The Senior Specialist will be responsible for identifying and managing EHS projects, leading the site emergency response team, and ensuring compliance with Cal/OSHA, NFPA, DOT, and EPA standards. You will also play a key role in safety training, incident investigation, and interfacing with various departments on safety and environmental issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • EHS Training: Develop and conduct comprehensive EHS training programs, providing resources and support to ensure employees are trained on safe work practices.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Communicate and implement Corporate, Divisional, Federal, State, and Local regulations, ensuring the facility's full compliance with these standards.
  • Emergency Response: Manage and assist the site Emergency Response Team, ensuring readiness and effective response to any emergencies.
  • Incident Investigation: Investigate safety incidents and accidents, developing corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit safety and environmental reports to management, division, corporate entities, and regulatory agencies.
  • Project Management: Lead and complete EHS projects as assigned, ensuring they meet safety and regulatory standards.
  • Employee Health and Safety: Oversee and maintain accountability for overall site-wide employee health and safety, ensuring a safe working environment for all.

The key criteria

  • NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (GradIOSH), although would consider alternatives to NEBOSH so long as the Diploma qualification is Level 5 or 6 in Occupational Health and Safety or an Environmental alternative (still GradIOSH though).
  • Fluency in English language (we have had some experiences where we have really struggled to understand candidates). This is a fundamental requirement for them, to be able to effectively communicate with the team and other stakeholders around the business.
  • Good understanding of UK Health & Safety Law/Regulations (Again we have had several candidates who hold international versions of the Diploma qualification, yet their work experience has all been in foreign countries where the health & safety law/regulations are very different, as is the culture).

Qualifications:

  • Education: NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent vocational experience in EHS regulations, practices, and policies is essential.
  • Experience: Proven experience in handling EHS issues, particularly within a manufacturing environment, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
  • Skills: Proficient in computer literacy, with strong knowledge of software packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.

Why Join Us?

This role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the safety and well-being of our employees while ensuring compliance with key environmental and safety regulations. If you have a passion for safety and a strong background in EHS, this is the role for you.

How to Apply:

If you are an experienced EHS professional with the qualifications and skills outlined above, we invite you to apply. Please submit your resume and cover letter to [email address] with the subject line "Senior Specialist EHS Application - OPS/EN/PROF2/13009/057".
