(Senior) Market & Competitive Intelligence Manager - Leading Law Firm

Posted by Leighton Taylor Consulting.

Based in London, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced Market & Competitive Intelligence Manager or Senior Manager to join a leading law firm to provide advice and intelligence to the firm's Executive Committee, based on internal and external data and analysis, and to drive the firm's strategic decision making in relation to clients and markets.

The successful applicant will manage and guide the Global Market & Competitive Intelligence team and outsourced research provider to deliver timely research and analysis reports in response to requests from the partnership, the Business Development, Marketing & Communications function and other parts of the firm, including client briefs, industry and market trends reports. It will be your responsibility to manage, mentor and develop the team in the U.S. and EMEA, fostering a culture that supports collaboration and team spirit, committed to professional excellence and the highest levels of client service. You will liaise with the firm's Executive Committee to provide research and analysis to support strategic decision making, including the production and presentation of timely and concise summary reports with clear recommendations, and will work closely with the Business Development, Marketing & Communications leadership team to support the strategic direction and decision-making of the function and the firm in relation to the client and industry program, feedback program and pitch strategy, including providing regular reports on KPIs. You will be expected to maintain a high level of understanding of the latest legal and business research methods and tools, keep abreast of developments in technology, including AI, to develop ideas to drive efficiency, and to monitor the firm's key clients and industry sectors to identify and communicate information about potential opportunities to relevant stakeholders. The Market & Competitive Intelligence Manager or Senior Manager will be tasked with developing the Business Development, Marketing & Communications function's data strategy, including how to gather and effectively use data from the various systems across the firm including Aderant, Matter Hub, Foundation and Microsoft Dynamics. You will also work closely with the global BD Technology team, to ensure best practice use of the firm's CRM system, matter database and other BD Technology systems, and with the Knowledge and Practice Development teams to optimise use and ROI of third party data sources. In addition, managing the firm's relationship with an outsourced research provider, including setting priorities, briefing and coordination across geographies and tracking performance against KPIs will represent a key priority.

With a proactive approach to defining needs and delivering solutions, the ideal candidate will possess extensive research and business intelligence experience, ideally gained in a professional services or corporate environment. Previous experience at an international law firm is preferred but is not essential. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a solid understanding of research techniques and technologies, analysis and market and competitor intelligence and a track record of delivering timely, accurate and concise reports with clear recommendations to support decision making and firm strategy. Detail-oriented and highly organised, you will need proven project management skills, with the ability to multitask and change priorities as required, and a strong ability to manage multiple deliverables within a tight timeframe and deliver high quality work. The Market & Competitive Intelligence Manager or Senior Manager will also be an effective and empathetic people manager who can attract, motivate and develop a globally integrated, collaborative, diverse and high performing team. Gravitas and credibility with a senior audience will be prerequisite.
