Social Worker – Children's Services

Location: South East

Salary: Competitive

Myn is recruiting for a passionate Social Worker to join the Children's Services team, focusing on Family Safeguarding and working with Looked After Children and Care Leavers. This is an incredible opportunity to support vulnerable children and families, ensuring their safety and well-being, while helping to shape a brighter future.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Work alongside families to support them in caring for their children, helping them identify needs and strengths, and developing SMART plans to improve their lives.
  • Assess family situations to determine if statutory intervention is necessary to protect children from significant harm or health impairment.
  • Collaborate with families, children, and professionals to create plans that reduce risks and improve outcomes, promoting children's upbringing within their families where possible.
  • Conduct child protection investigations when required, involving families in developing safety plans.
  • Where children cannot remain in their families, work with colleagues to secure stable, long-term placements, ensuring their health, education, and development needs are met.
  • Maintain detailed, up-to-date case records, assessments, and plans, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Take part in regular reflective supervision and training to continually improve your practice and outcomes for children and families.

What We're Looking For:

  • A professional qualification in Social Work (e.g. CQSW or DipSW) and registration with Social Work England (SWE).
  • Experience working with children and families, ideally in a statutory setting.
  • Strong knowledge of UK childcare law and statutory guidance, including Working Together 2018.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Confidence in using motivational interviewing techniques to engage families and promote positive change.
  • Empathy, resilience, and a commitment to helping children and families achieve the best possible outcomes.
  • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively with partners across social care, education, health, and other sectors.
  • Flexibility to travel within the region and adapt to the needs of the role, including occasional evening or weekend work.

What You'll Gain: This is a rewarding role where you'll be able to make a real difference in the lives of children and families. You'll be part of a supportive team, receive regular supervision, and have opportunities for professional development.
