We have a great opportunity to join us here at NGN as a Land Officer - Estates Surveyor within our Land and Property department.

You will be responsible for delivering the effective provision of Land, Estates and Property management services to support this function to our wider business.

The responsibilities of this role are incredibly varied and you will be dealing with a wide range of Land and Property matters with a broad range of stakeholders.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities will include

  • Acquisition of new property rights – Site Inspection/Landowner meeting, Negotiation of terms, Valuation of rights (& fees) required, progression of legal documentation and other related matters
  • Advice and Management of existing rights – Review of existing legal documentation and relevant legislation, study of operational requirements, determine best way to progress and produce advice note to instructor
  • Resolution of land related compensation claims – Review of issue, review of existing legal documents, Inspection of issue and reasons, summary report (for ISG dependent on value) and resolution of claim
  • Land valuation & reporting – Required on all expenditure matters
  • Property Lead when appointed to operational projects, providing advice on all property related matters – Input into the project team requirements, property budget advice and considerations to be made
  • Instruction and management of legal and surveying teams – Management of Professional services when required
  • Progress reporting – Input into various Project groups with regards timescales, budget costs, any issues

What we are looking for

  • An understanding and experience of the Land and Property market, both in terms of values, tenures, land charges
  • An understanding of Agriculture and how factors impact on this
  • An understanding of legal land & property rights and the legal process for acquiring these
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal, written and comfortable speaking to third parties in the field
  • Ability to manage own workload and work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to negotiate with a wide range of stakeholders
  • An understanding of Gas Transmission and Distribution
  • Experience of delivering reporting & management information relating to various projects
  • Attention to detail and ability to identify solutions to resolve legal, property and/or operational issues
  • Valid UK driving licence is essential for this role
  • AssocRICS or willing to work towards this qualification
