**Job Summary:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Year 1 teacher to join our friendly, one-form entry primary school in Haringey. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a close-knit community, supporting and nurturing children in their early stages of primary education. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences, fostering a positive and engaging classroom environment.

**Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons in line with the Key Stage 1 National Curriculum, ensuring that all students make progress according to their ability.
  • Monitor and assess students' progress through formative and summative assessments, providing regular feedback to students, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment, where positive behaviour is encouraged and all pupils feel valued.
  • Provide emotional and social support to pupils, understanding their individual needs and working closely with parents and colleagues to ensure their well-being.
  • Work closely with other staff members, including teaching assistants and support staff, to ensure that the needs of all students are met. Participate in regular staff meetings, planning sessions, and professional development opportunities.
  • Build strong relationships with parents and carers, keeping them informed of their child's progress, behaviour, and any other relevant issues.
  • Support the needs of all learners, including those with SEND, EAL, and other additional needs, through effective differentiation and intervention strategies.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including extra-curricular activities, school events, and assemblies, promoting the school's values and ethos.

**Qualifications and Skills:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Essential
  • Experience: Previous experience teaching in Year 1 or within Key Stage 1 is highly desirable. Experience in a one-form entry school is a plus but not essential.
  • Knowledge: A sound understanding of the Key Stage 1 National Curriculum, assessment frameworks, and phonics teaching (e.g., Letters and Sounds or similar programmes).
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage with young children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Organisation: Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage planning, marking, and reporting efficiently.
  • Passion for Teaching: A genuine enthusiasm for teaching young children and helping them achieve their full potential.
  • Commitment: Dedication to continuous professional development and to the school's values and vision.

**Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with planning and delivering phonics sessions, and familiarity with the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check.
  • Experience working with children from diverse backgrounds and supporting learners with SEND or EAL needs.
  • Familiarity with creative and engaging teaching methods that cater to various learning styles.
