Learning Support Assistant

Are you an experienced Learning Support Assistant with an interest in Special Educational Needs Development? Horizon Teachers are working with creative Primary school based in Wandsworth, assisting in their search for a SEN Teaching Assistant.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to develop their career in Education and work with pupils who require extra support within the classroom.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience in a Primary or Early Years setting.
  • Ideally, have previously supported children with Special Education Needs in an educational setting.
  • Be able to remain calm when presented with challenging behaviour.
  • Be enthusiastic and work well within a team, as well as use your own initiative.
  • Have knowledge of the National Curriculum and can adapt the learning where necessary.

Your responsibilities

  • Assist the class teacher with general classroom management and preparation.
  • Support children within the classroom, specifically those with SEND.
  • Working with pupils on a 1:1 basis, as well as supporting groups of children.
  • Leading activities focusing on different areas of learning and development.
  • Follow instructions from the class teacher and work with other Teaching Assistants to ensure a smooth-running classroom.
