GMP Recruitment are proud to be partnered with a highly successful manufacturing organisation, who specialise in bespoke, metalwork products. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 'hands-on' and experienced Operations Director to join their site in Worcestershire.
This is a full time, permanent position where you will be expected onsite daily. Salary on offer is circa £75K pending experience, plus car allowance and excellent company benefits.
The successful Operations Director must have the ability to exude positivity and encouragement to galvanise a team behind a shared vision. You must be able to engage in the business to deliver results using a combination of deep integrity, humility and people engagement skills.
To be considered you must have proven experience in a senior management position within a manufacturing environment with strong skills in developing strategic business plans and financial acumen particularly in P&L/Budget management and forecasting.
Operations Director main duties:
- You will face the challenge of leading and managing a multi-functional Delivery Team in supporting bids and programmes, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- You will be required to personally lead where appropriate negotiations with customers, partners and suppliers, ensuring that the Company is provided with optimum pricing efficiencies on materials, services and discounts.
- Provide the main interface between the client and the company and will operate at a highly professional level.
- Ensure that opportunities are identified by the Sales & Estimating Office for the strategic development of contracts to deliver increased turnover and profitability and to ensure that the Company is well positioned to win future work.
- Control the cost base both within the business and throughout the supply chain through the identification of operational inefficiencies, involved in the setting of budgets and ensuring that the approved budget is delivered.
- Ensure that the project design is delivering the best value for the Company in terms of both capital cost and lifecycle consideration.
- Determine and manage risk through all stages of the project ensuring that the Company does not have to make forfeit payments for non-delivery of a part of the scheme, analysing profit and loss areas as they do so.
- Provide a clear communication link between all parts of the business, bringing any issues to the table for discussion and decision-making.
- Responsible for leading, managing and coaching team members bringing out their full potential and in doing so optimising the quality of a contract delivery and individual and team development.
Operations Director required skills and experience:
- Proven experience in a senior management position in a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrable experience in developing strategic business plans
- PR and presentation skills
- Strong financial acumen particularly in P&L/Budget Management/Forecasting
- Familiar with corporate law and management best practises
- Experience and delivery of multi-million-pound high end complex contracts
- Full understanding of Performance Management systems
- Full understanding of design programmes and associated consequences
- Ability to interpret drawings or data presented to them
- Understanding of Buying processes and commercial decision making
- Ability to review and conduct risk assessments and method statements
- Ability to liaise with clients ensuring satisfaction
- Experience in recruitment and selection
- IT literate
