Our Academy, a brand-new SEN school set to open in early 2025 on the Isle of Sheppey, is seeking a Senior Finance Officer. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead financial operations within an educational setting that caters to young people aged 11-16 with SEMH and other related areas of SEN such as ASD.

Day-to-Day of the Role:

  • Lead the monthly finance deadlines ensuring all items on the month-end schedule are reconciled in line with Trust Finance timetables.
  • Work closely with the Business Manager and Chief Finance Officer to produce monthly reports and returns for the Governing Body, Trust Board, and Education Skills Funding Agency (ESFA).
  • Manage and support other members of the finance team.
  • Attend and contribute to daily briefings, team meetings, training sessions, and wider organisational meetings.
  • Adapt to the evolving needs and priorities as the school develops.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience working within a busy finance office environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain relationships with budget holders, suppliers, and contractors.
  • In-depth knowledge of IT including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and databases.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development as directed by the line manager.
