As a Business Development Manager, you are responsible for developing new business relationships and profitable sales with domestic prospects in our strategic sales segments.

Main responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing sales with medium & large UK OEM prospects & accounts, in our strategic sales segments.
  • Leading negotiations and customer decisions Creates and executes on a strategic sales plan that meets or exceeds turnover and gross profit targets.
  • Creates strategic account plans for new customers that are in line with sales strategy and that outline account objectives, strategies, resources and tactics to be deployed.
  • Ensuring effective positioning of value proposition to prospects/customer corporate HQ and site locations by leveraging customer service partners together with other departments
  • Has an entrepreneurial mindset, sees opportunities for new business or business expansion and can back this up with facts and figures. Effectively manages & develops his/her pipeline
  • Grows network of prospects out of personal curiosity and ambition and can convert this into sales. Understands the value of personal branding and effectively uses it.
  • Analyses (multi-site) prospect/customer needs & processes (e.g. procurement process, production process) and understands how the customer sees these processes in the future and translates these into possible solutions.
  • Evaluates, negotiates, and directs the development, winning, maintenance, extensions, renewals or discontinuation of account agreements through the contract management process. Has the full view of in which stage all his/her customers are.
  • Responsible for negotiating, developing, and maintaining price agreements for the new business.
  • Leading Tailored Account Teams to win new business with cross-functional external and internal partners (including but not limited to representatives of the customer, internally Customer Service, Quality, PLE) to deliver value proposition, fulfil customer needs and fulfil contract agreements. Plan, Execute, Check and Adjust on contract agreements by leading the Tailored Account team.
  • Deeply understands the ever-changing need of the customer and prospects by continuous proactive probing and is flexible
  • Monitors and analyses KPIs and sales indicators by using CRM, PowerBI and other reporting tools to understand the current situation and proactively reports out on results and uses insight to implement corrective actions and performance improvements.
  • Keeps up to date with market developments as well as the different international markets and has a natural curiosity to keep this knowledge up to date.

Skill, know how & experience.

  • Preferably degree or level achieved through experience
  • Experience of B2B concept selling experience and managing complex medium/large accounts
  • Analytical: can analyse and translate figures into actions
  • Strong communicator: Can communicate on all levels locally & at Group level
  • Politically savvy: recognises internal force fields and adjusts behaviour and actions accordingly
  • Technical affinity
  • Results driven shows perseverance in every situation
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Power BI
  • Experience of using CRM
  • Team player and with strong network skills
  • Full UK Driver's license.
