The role:

The Finance Manager will support the Director of Finance in the efficient and effective delivery of services within the Finance Department. In particular the role will support the delivery and analysis of quality financial information for decision-making and will support managers in effective financial management of the charity. Key responsibilities include:

  • Input to the Finance Strategy to deliver both short and long-term goals, providing strong leadership and support to other Senior Managers and Managers
  • Provide support in the preparation of major funding applications
  • Engage with key internal and external stakeholders to build and maintain effective working relationships
  • Regularly coach, mentor, and support colleagues to develop skills and competence in financial and budgetary related processes
  • Support the work of the Board of Trustees through attendance at relevant meetings
  • Develop and maintain sound financial systems for robust financial planning, control and reporting, to inform management decision-making and to measure financial performance against strategic objectives
  • Proactively forecast and manage the cash flow needs of the organisation
  • Continually monitor and review finance systems and processes to ensure continuous improvement, efficiency, and effectiveness
  • Provide timely and accurate measurement reports e.g., for key performance indicators, impact measurement reports, to measure effectiveness

Criteria:

All applicants should be:

  • Educated to Degree level qualification in a business-related subject or equivalent OR be qualified as an accounting technician or equivalent (e.g. IATI) with three years accounting experience (the role is also open to fully qualified Accountants)
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of charitable accounting
  • Three years' experience managing staff performance to achieve high standards of service delivery & lead an effective team
  • Three years' experience working in a management role within a finance department
