Health, Well-being and Engagement Worker

About the Service:

Family hubs are a place-based way of joining up locally in the planning and delivery of family services. They bring services together to improve access, improve the connections between families, professionals, services, and providers, and put relationships at the heart of family support. Family hubs offer support to families from conception to 19 or up to 25 for those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), with a great Start for Life offer at their core.

The service will provide a range of quality services for families, locally designed for the 6 town areas of the Borough, divided into 3 areas:

Cluster A - Oldbury, Smethwick

Cluster B - Tipton, Rowley Regis

Cluster C - Wednesbury and West Bromwich

Working pattern:

Monday to Friday (37 hours) with flexibility required for occasional evening and weekend work to meet the needs of the service.

Some key activities/objectives include:

  • To support in the delivery of a broad range of services and courses/programmes designed to improve the health, well-being and engagement of parents to be, parent/carers, children and families.
  • Commitment to undertake any training to enable you to plan and deliver a range of courses/programmes/workshops for parents including HENRY, MoodMaster™, Antenatal Solihull Approach, Oral Health etc.
  • Delivery of sessions to enable improved bonding and attachment between parent/carer and child through sessions such as Baby Massage, Baby Yoga, Baby Clubs etc.
  • Introduce parents-to-be, parents/carers to the full range of Family Hub offer and broader family services through increasing service awareness and engagement by reaching out to as many families as possible including those who find it challenging to access.
  • Prepared to work in an agile work environment to ensure needs of the service are met.
  • Ability to work flexibly to cover boroughwide delivery.
  • Deliver activities and opportunities to gain feedback from service users to influence service delivery.
  • Support the design, maintenance and promotion of materials and opportunities designed to attract, engage, and build relationships with communities, including through the Virtual Offer, social media, newsletters etc.
  • Work with the wider teams within the Family Hubs to meet the needs of the service across the borough.
  • Any other duties deemed appropriate within your job role to reflect the needs of the service.

Person specification/shortlisting criteria

  • Level 3 or equivalent qualification in relevant field
  • Ability to work in Multi-disciplinary team.
  • Effective Communication Skills with children, young people and families
  • Ability/willingness to deliver programmes/sessions to parent/carers, children and young people.
  • Experience of effectively managing own workload and meeting targets/deadlines
  • Ability and experience of identifying and appropriately acting upon safeguarding concerns.
  • Community and engagement experience
