1:1 Teaching Assistant - SEMH

Hays Recruitment have partnered with an Ofsted rated "Good" single form entry primary school in Runcorn as they are looking to appoint a motivated and experienced KS2 teaching assistant to join their resource provision and support a pupil with SEN, SEMH. This is a long-term full-time contract starting on 04/09/2024 that is highly likely to last the full academic year.
Your new role
In your new role as an SEN teaching assistant within this school, you will be supporting a pupil in KS2 with SEMH on a 1:1 basis. You will be this pupils main point of contact throughout the day, meeting them at the school gate and walking them back to their grown-up at the end of the day. You will use a myriad of positive behaviour techniques such as de-escalation, distraction and reflexion to promote positive behaviours, which will in turn encourage a positive relationship with your pupil. As well as this, you will offer interventions and booster sessions in core subjects as to ensure that they reach their full academic potential.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as a minimum of 40 days referenceable experience supporting children and young people in the last 2 years, as well as:

  • The ability to take a person-centred approach to education
  • Be able to commit to a full-time contract (5 days per week)
  • Have experience working with SEMH
  • An NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning is advantageous but not essential
