About the Role:
As a Specialist Occupational Therapist, you will:
- Take a lead role in assessing and treating patients within the medical wards, many with complex acute or chronic conditions.
- Develop individualised care plans and ensure seamless communication and referrals to relevant agencies.
- Collaborate with the Professional Leads in planning, coordinating, and evaluating the day-to-day therapy services within the department.
- Provide supervision, training, and appraisals for Band 5 and 6 therapists, therapy assistants, and students, fostering a culture of learning and development.
- Work autonomously as a clinical expert, using advanced assessment techniques and delivering highly specialised treatment plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialist care, delivering advanced assessments and treatment to patients within the medical wards.
- Lead in the clinical diagnosis and formulation of effective treatment plans for complex cases.
- Supervise and support junior therapists, offering guidance, training, and performance appraisals.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the highest standards of patient care.
- Maintain detailed patient records in line with professional standards as an autonomous practitioner.
About You:
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist.
- Significant experience working in an acute or medical setting.
- Strong clinical expertise, particularly in managing complex cases.
- Leadership skills with the ability to supervise and develop a team of junior staff.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and decision-making abilities.
