We require a Civilian Investigator to cover an existing workload within Counter Terrorism Policing, based in Lambeth HQ (Monday to Friday office based).
This is an interim position for an initial 6 months with the potential to be extended, dependent on workload.
Job Summary:
- The Metropolitan Police are seeking to hire experienced criminal investigators to conduct the pursuit of various lines of enquiry in support of criminal investigations being undertaken by the SO15 Counter Terrorism Command and by the MO6 Public Order Policing Command.
- Successful candidates will be posted as Police Staff Investigators and will undertake actions under the direction of a Detective Sergeant.
- These could include CCTV enquiries and taking witness statements, applying for communications data under the Investigatory Powers Act, conducting open-source research, conducting research on Police digital databases and analysis of the content of digital devices seized during the course of arrests and investigations.
Skills and experience needed to be successful in this role:
- Proficiency in the taking of witness statements.
- Proficiency in the applying for communications data under the Investigatory Powers Act.
- Must have experience investigating volume crime in an English / Welsh police service within the last five years.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and confident in their ability to write reports based on the outcome of lines of enquiry.
- Experience investigating serious and complex crime in an English / Welsh police service within the last five years.
- PIP qualified – level 1 or level 2.
- Experience in investigation of serious and complex crime.
- Have excellent communication skills.
- Good organisational, time management and planning skills.
- Have experience in producing detailed reports.
- Experience of partnership working.
