Events Officer

Do you have experience managing corporate events? Are you looking to expand your horizons into the academic sector? If so, Signature Recruitment is currently seeking an Events Officer for our client, a leading London university. This is temporary, full-time position has an immediate start.

In this role as Events Officer, you will be at the forefront of managing a wide range of public, student, staff and alumni events including public lectures, workshops, seminars, conferences and other community events. You will collaborate with the Student Experience Manager to execute events - focusing on venue bookings, catering, AV arrangements, guests and other logistics. Your responsibility will encompass providing expertly managed events, ensuring meticulous organisation and attention to detail.

Events Officer Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development, planning, promotion and execution of a wide range of events, including public lectures, seminars, conferences, community events, panels, and book launches - all working closely with the Student Experience Manager
  • Advising on policies, procedures and best practice for all events considering Equality, Diversity and Inclusion as well as considering security, risk assessment, health and safety.
  • Working with the Events Administrator to arrange suppliers, venue/room hire, catering, post-event dinners or receptions, security, audio visual equipment, invitations and other requirements whilst administering the event budget
  • Liaising and meeting with and responding to all guest queries before, during and after events, referring press queries to the Press Team
  • Monitoring attendance and engagement with the events and reporting as required
  • Acting as Secretary to the Events Committee. To include preparing and distributing the agendas and related papers, attending meetings, writing and circulating minutes and ensuring all actions are followed up

Events Officer Key Skills:

  • Demonstrable experience in organising and managing events of varying sizes and types - including lectures, seminars, workshops and conferences
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders including academics and high-profile VIPs
  • Personable and proactive - with the ability to plan and prioritise work, often working on multiple tasks simultaneously but maintaining attention to detail
  • Highly proficient IT skills including Microsoft Office applications
