Manchester - a hybrid role which allows flexibility for some home working.

35 hours per week Monday - Friday

£21.00 per hour

Our client

Morgan Hunt is supporting a large Housing Association based in Manchester to recruit a temporary Fire Safety Inspector for a temporary period of 3 months initially. You will ensure that, with a customer and fire safety focus the general operation, maintenance and repair of the portfolio will provide a high quality, efficient, safe, and secure environment for customers, residents, and visitors.

The role

What you'll be doing as a Fire Safety Inspector.

  • Assist the Strategic Fire Manager and the compliance team to co-ordinate Customer Safety maintenance, to a minimum position of legal compliance, but also to understand and meet the requirements of Building Safety Act 2022, British Standards, the Fire Safety Order, Fire Safety Act 2021, and the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022.
  • Assist the Strategic Fire Manager with projects across the whole of the groups property portfolio.
  • Regular inspection of properties, identification of areas of concern, ordering and inspection of repair works, investigation of solutions and recommendation to the Strategic Fire Manager.
  • To communicate with customers and residents, understanding their reported concerns, communication of planned activities, and consultation on projects. To ensure there is a two-way communication with customers and residents in building safety matters.
  • Routine inspections of communal areas, blocks, and individual flats to ensure that they are being managed effectively in a manner that supports customer and resident safety. Ensure sterile areas are maintained and that appropriate logbooks are being completed.
  • Assist specialist contractors in gaining access to properties, customer communications and maintaining records of access arrangements.
  • Ensure property information boxes are containing appropriate documentation for fire safety, in addition to site copies of EICR, water hygiene inspections, gas safety inspections and service records, and asbestos records are available for all blocks within the property portfolio.
  • Ensure that all certification and reports produced by in house staff or contractors are verified, reported, and actioned in a timely manner.

What you'll need as a Fire Safety Inspector.

  • Relevant professional qualifications / memberships (ASCP Building Safety in Social Housing Management Level 4, competency qualification in any compliance area) OR working towards.
  • Competency trained in Fire Door Inspection
  • Managing Safely IOSH
  • Technical knowledge of operation and testing of emergency lighting, fire detection systems, AOVs and Lift maintenance
  • Excellent understanding of building safety and compliance
  • Proficient in using IT systems and full range of Microsoft Office
  • Understanding of health and safety legislation within a repairs and asset management team
  • Ability to complete tasks in an accurate and timely manner when working under pressure.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Effective liaison with staff/other stakeholders to give information/find information/resolve problems.
  • Organisation and ability to time-manage workload.
  • Able to deliver a high standard of customer service.
