Tax Specialist

A leading technology business on an exciting growth trajectory are seeking a Tax Specialist to sit within their finance team. This role will support the business in providing tax expertise to ensure compliance with the required law and regulations, advising and implementing processes and control improvements in accordance with the best practice corporate governance, and providing technical assistance to the Finance Director/ Group CFO on updates on tax regulations that may impact the Group.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing group tax reporting, including tax provisioning and calculating deferred tax for both entity and group statutory accounts.
  • Managing and supervising group tax audits for all direct taxes.
  • Preparing and filing all group corporation tax returns and associated calculations, including those for corporate interest restrictions.
  • Compiling capital allowance claims.
  • Providing technical tax advice to the different business units across the company.
  • Ensuring corporate tax compliance, including handling group payments on account (POA) and other administrative tasks.
  • Overseeing the internal control framework and preparing and submitting the Group's Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) documentation.
  • Advising on bespoke tax planning and implementation of tax planning arrangements.
  • Providing in house assistance for M&A transactions and special tax engagements
  • Preparing and submitting calculations for PAYE settlement agreements & Taxed Awards Scheme.
  • Advice on the correct application of direct taxes to a wide range of business situations
  • Compiling and submitting online share reporting.
  • Assisting with transfer pricing, Pillar II rules and disclosures, country-by-country reporting, and other global group-wide tax compliance matters.
  • Advising the business on IR35 and other employment tax issues.
  • Managing relationships with HMRC and external advisors.
  • Driving improvements and processes across the group to improve tax compliance and efficiency, keeping abreast of new developments in tax legislation

Requirements:

  • Fully qualified CTA or equivalent (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent) with demonstrable experience and knowledge in tax regulations
  • Strong tax accounting skills
  • Strong technical ability to review new legislation and ascertain the potential impact of any changes on the group
  • Team player, with experience and confidence with coaching and developing a team
  • Adaptable to different systems with excellent Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to communicate effectively to both internal colleagues and external auditors
  • Team player with the ability to work to deadlines and prioritise tasks
