Systems Accountant

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Manage daily cash book and perform bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly cost and revenue analysis reports.
  • Engage in project accounting and understand concepts of revenue recognition.
  • Utilise Business Intelligence Systems for report generation.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts including P&L and Balance Sheet.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
  • Report on cash flow on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including credit control.
  • Use advanced Excel skills to deliver bespoke reporting.
  • Demonstrate proactivity in identifying new technological solutions and recommending process improvements.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for key accounting processes and system walkthroughs.
  • Handle the receipt and recording of invoices, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Manage payment runs, matching, and filing invoices and receipts.
  • Reconcile business accounts to ensure payments reflect received goods and services.
  • Address queries from suppliers, contractors, and internal departments regarding accounts payable or payments.

ERP and Systems Implementation:

  • Coordinate with various departments to gather business needs and determine key user requirements for an upcoming ERP implementation.
  • Review and test innovative technology platforms, presenting recommendations to the management board.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in accounting, particularly in a systems accountant or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of project accounting and revenue recognition.
  • Proficient in using advanced Excel and Business Intelligence reporting tools.
  • Experience with ERP systems implementation and management.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
