Role

As the Purchasing Manager you will manage procurement activities and report directly to the Managing Director. Covering a group of companies within the building sector, you will manage the entire purchasing process from start to finish, and collaborate with internal teams to determine requirements, specifications, and timelines for various projects.

In addition to this, you will also expect to:

  • Negotiate prices, terms, and conditions with suppliers to achieve optimal value.
  • Monitor and evaluate supplier performance, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Identify and assess potential suppliers based on quality, cost, and other criteria.
  • Draft and manage purchasing contracts.
  • Maintain accurate records of pricing, purchase orders, and quote agreements.
  • Analyse performance data, usage, and cost, to inform procurement strategies.
  • Support the development of procurement strategies to enhance supply chain performance and reduce costs.
  • Foster strong working relationships with both suppliers and internal departments.
  • Manage purchase orders, handle invoices, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Track shipments and coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely stock delivery.
  • Monitor inventory levels and plan for warehouse/storage requirements.
  • Proactively identify and resolve potential business or supply chain issues.
  • Prepare and deliver annual procurement budgets.
  • Continually educate yourself on market trends, new products, and industry best practices.

Requirements

As the Purchasing Manager you will be passionate, versatile and committed with proven experience as a Buyer or Purchasing Manager, preferably in the building sector. You will have demonstrable strong supply chain knowledge, as well as excellent negotiation and communication skills. Previous supervisory and management experience would also be preferable.

In addition to this:

  • CIPS qualification preferred.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong numerical skills, with proficiency in data recording and analysis.
  • IT proficiency inc. Microsoft Office and purchasing software.
  • Share a passion for sustainability.
