Reed Education is seeking a dedicated Primary Teacher and Assistant SENCO to join our independent specialist school in Woking. This role is ideal for a professional passionate about providing high-quality, therapeutic, and child-centred education to pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) and other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Day to day of the role:

  • Spend 3 days teaching and 2 days performing SENCO duties, building professional, nurturing, and positive relationships with students.
  • Create and deliver exciting and engaging lesson plans that challenge and motivate students across a range of abilities and needs.
  • Manage complex and challenging behaviours with attention, effective communication, consistency, and flexibility.
  • Collaborate with education and therapy professionals, parents/carers, local authority teams, and students to secure outstanding outcomes.
  • Contribute to the decision-making process that drives the school and advocate for every child's needs.
  • Develop both the academic curriculum and the extra-curricular offer, incorporating personal interests and passions.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with children with SEMH and SEND, such as Autism, ADHD, and communication difficulties.
  • Ability to manage complex and challenging behaviours in a non-judgmental manner.
  • Strong commitment to child-centred and therapeutic approaches to education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to undergo extensive therapeutic training and support.
  • Enhanced DBS check or willingness to obtain one.
