A growing organization is seeking an experienced and qualified Mobile Mechanical Fitter to join its expanding team. The successful candidate will be responsible for servicing and repairing a wide range of plant equipment and vehicles, ensuring operational efficiency and quick turnaround times. This role requires a solid understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems and a proactive approach to solving problems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Service and repair various plant machinery and vehicles across different sites.
- Perform Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) on equipment such as Forklift Trucks (FLTs), Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs), and tower lights, as well as other heavy equipment.
- Respond promptly to the demands and needs of customers, ensuring fast and accurate repairs.
- Diagnose and resolve hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical issues.
- Ensure health and safety protocols are adhered to at all times.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders and work collaboratively within a team or independently as needed.
- Provide on-call service as part of a rota, including servicing a key customer in the North East.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience in maintaining and repairing plant equipment and vehicles.
- Strong understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with FLTs, MEWPs, and tower lights is essential.
- Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders.
- A valid driver's license.
- The ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Commitment to maintaining workplace health and safety standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MEWP, IPAF Card, Harness training, and FLT license (desirable).
- ECITB/CCNSG Passport to Safety (preferred, but training can be provided).
Benefits:

- Overtime available, with earnings potential up to £55,000 (paid at time and a half for over 41.5 hours, double time on Sundays/Bank Holidays).
- Monthly team bonus of £200-£350 if company targets are met.
- Additional holiday entitlement for each year of service.
- Basic hours: Monday – Thursday, 8:00am – 5:00pm; Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm.
Schedule:
- 8-hour shifts
- Monday to Friday
- Overtime available
- Weekend availability
