An excellent opportunity has arisen for a School Finance Assistant (Purchase Ledger Clerk) to be part of the Finance team for a group of four schools based in West London. This successful candidate will report to the Finance Manager.
This role includes assisting the Finance team in purchase invoice entry, supplier payment runs, reconciling and inputting credit cards expenditure and other finance related activities.
The person should be able to work efficiently, methodically and accurately with minimum supervision. Experience in working for schools is desirable but not essential.
Main duties:
- To perform tasks assigned by the Finance Team
- To undertake aspects of preparing, maintaining and communicating reliable financial information
- To assist in the preparation of recording school trips and clubs for billing
- The administration of processing and certifying of purchase invoices received for payment & filing
- Reconciling supplier statements to ensure all liabilities have been recorded
- The operation and reconciliation of the school Petty Cash
- To be a contact for general finance queries and to liaise with suppliers and contractors as required
- Assist in the administration of bank reconciliations
Person specification:
- Must have a clean DBS
- Experience in a similar purchase ledger clerk role
- Educated to GCSE or A level standard
- Bookkeeping or AAT qualification desirable but not essential
- Experience of SAGE or other accounting systems would be desirable but not essential.
- Good knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office products such as Excel and Word
- Excellent knowledge of IT systems and ability to use IT to enhance service of delivery of administration
- Must be numerate, pays attention to detail and demonstrates analytical skills
- Proven ability to communicate both orally and written
- Evidence of working effectively within a team
- Good organisational skills
- An understanding of the need for confidentiality
- Ability to stay calm and cheerful when working under pressure
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
- Ability to relate to children, adults and parents demonstrating good interpersonal skills
- To share in and contribute to the overall aims and ethos of the school
Hours of work:
- 08:30 to 17:00 with half an hour for lunch
Holidays:
- 20 days per annum pro-rata, the majority taken to be taken during School holidays, plus 8 Bank Holidays pro-rata.
Salary
C £28,000 to £32,000 pa depending on experience
Ideally looking for someone on short notice and someone who can travel to the location via public transport as no parking on site.
