Behaviour Support Worker

VNA Education has a fantastic opportunity for a Full-time behaviour support worker starting ASAP. You will be working within an Outstanding secondary School based in East London who are committed to engaging and inspiring pupils to achieve their potential.

General duties.

  • To promote, manage and maintain positive student behaviour and welfare.
  • To patrol the school building to ensure that all pupils are in class.
  • To perform specific duties at breaktime, lunchtime and after school to ensure that students are well supervised, and that health and safety requirements are met.
  • To act as a First Aider as and when required.
  • To support in the management of the school Exclusion Room
  • To be responsible for accompanying or supervising groups of students at times directed by line managers or SLT for short periods.

Requirements

  • Be confident in behaviour management skills to de-escalate any aggressive behaviour.
  • To mentor and engage with the students.
  • You will need to be resilient, empathetic, patient and not take things too personally.
  • Have relevant experience of working with children or young people.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Hold an enhanced child workforce DBS check on the update service or be willing to undertake a new one.
  • Have up-to-date safeguarding training.

Ideal candidate

  • Have experience working with children and/or young people.
  • A nurturing and understanding personality, with the ability to form strong relationships with children and young people.
  • Be confident to support pupils.
  • Positive outlook.
