Our client is seeking a highly skilled VAT Tax Advisor to join their dynamic finance team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a hybrid environment, providing EMEA and Global support. The successful candidate will be part of an indirect tax advisory team, with a focus on supporting the EMEA region and opportunities to get involved in Canadian and APAC coverage. This role provides a wide range of exposure to many entities/affiliates, covering all activities of the firm.

What you'll do:
As a VAT Tax Advisor, your role will be pivotal in supporting the indirect tax advisory team. You will have the opportunity to attend VAT return review meetings, where your analytical skills will be put to use as you challenge the data presented. Your collaboration skills will be essential as you work with local LEC's and the Budapest VAT compliance team, coordinating with advisors across various countries. Your expertise will also be required in reviewing commodities trades, ensuring compliance with rules, and working on projects to enhance current systems. Furthermore, you will play a key role in advising on VAT treatments of IBD deals, developing procedures for the Indirect Tax team, and assisting with new VAT registrations.
- Attend VAT return review meetings and analyse/challenge the data presented.
- Work with local LEC's and Budapest VAT compliance team to provide information to Tax Authorities in response to audit requests.
- Coordinate with advisors in various countries to source sound VAT advice within budget.
- Review commodities trades to ensure compliance with the rules and work with Tech and Ops teams on a project to enhance the current commodities billing system.
- Support the team, Finance and the Business Units with ad hoc advisory requires.
- Liaise with bankers and invoicing teams to advise on the VAT treatment of IBD (M&A) deals.
- Collaborate in developing and enhancing procedures for the Indirect Tax team.
- Assist with new VAT registrations and subsequent amendments/deregistrations.

The ideal candidate for this VAT Tax Advisor position brings a wealth of experience from the banking/financial services industry. You possess exceptional teamwork and collaboration skills, honed through experience in team/project-oriented activities. Your strong communication skills enable you to effectively push back when necessary, ensuring that you fully understand and are comfortable with all items before approval. Your organisational and analytical skills are second to none, and your ability to work independently is highly valued. A Bachelor's degree and professional tax exams (ie CTA) are required for this role, along with 7-15 years of experience in Indirect Tax.
