Software Engineer - Java - Python - Storage Management Solutions - 12 month contract - Glasgow Hybrid (3 days onsite)

I am look for a versatile Software Engineer to help design and develop storage management systems and in-house applications for a global organisation in central Glasgow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Develop: Architect and develop high-availability, scalable storage management solutions, including provisioning, monitoring, and auditing systems.
  • Integrate Solutions: Collaborate with third-party vendors to integrate market-leading storage technologies.
  • Tool Development: Create tools for problem management, preventive maintenance, and capacity management.
  • Innovate: Stay ahead of emerging technologies in storage virtualisation, automation, and infrastructure.

What You Bring:

  • Team Collaboration: Work seamlessly within a global team, listening to customer needs and articulating technical solutions effectively.

  • Technical Expertise:

  • Proficient in Java, Python and Perl.

  • Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals and object-oriented concepts.

  • Experience with Linux in Enterprise environments.

  • Knowledgeable in SQL and software development lifecycle best practices.

  • Storage Savvy: Familiarity with storage technologies (e.g., Fibre Channel, ISCSI, NFS, RAID, Object Storage) and understanding of networking protocols.

  • System Architecture: Experience with UNIX/Windows Server environments, containers (Kubernetes/Docker), and cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/Google) is a plus.

  • Troubleshooting Skills: Effective in resolving issues across OS, network, and storage layers.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with storage products like NetApp, IBM Spectrum Scale, EMC Atmos, and others.
  • Advanced programming skills and intermediate+ proficiency in storage or Linux environments.
