IT Support Apprentice

Responsibilities:

  • Configure, deploy, maintain, troubleshoot and support local infrastructure, including computer workstations, laptops, printer deployment and communications, mobile devices, phones and meeting room equipment
  • Assist with local area networking (including wifi) and other computer and telecommunications equipment
  • Diagnose and resolve issues associated with end user-based application software, multi-user applications and operating systems
  • Build and install application software on JMIT supported end user devices (PC, laptop, tablet and mobile) including new starter builds
  • Maintain and update the hardware inventory for end user devices on site
  • Carry out basic systems operation's duties requiring local hands and eyes support, assist backup team as with back-up tape management, supervised server restarts, LAN patching, and cabinet management

  • Working knowledge of desktop, laptop, server and printers

Entry requirements:

  • 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
