Support Engineer

Support Engineer (Full Time) - Salary - £ 37,511 to £44,130 (dependent on experience) - Hybrid working.

About the role

An exciting opportunity to join our Data Derivation Core Capability team as a Support Engineer.

The purpose of the role is to work as part of an established, collaborative support and maintenance team.

Work will focus on supporting and maintaining some of our key business systems, including assisting in the handling and resolution of incidents.

An important aspect of this role is continuous improvement to ensure our systems remain secure, supported, current and continue to meet business requirements in line with our strategic objectives.

You will have the opportunity and be empowered to influence and shape our system maintenance roadmaps, applying your experience in software engineering, support, and maintenance to help us create secure, scalable, performant systems that are easy to maintain and support.

What we're looking for

If you are interested in joining a team that lies at the heart of what OS is about, we are looking for someone that can demonstrate skills and experience in

  • One or more programming languages - C#, Python, Ruby
  • Relational databases and SQL
  • Experience Geospatial technologies - ESRI, FME
  • Software engineering best practice
  • Very good track record in problem resolution & selection of technical solutions & applications

Desirable skills

  • Working with Azure DevOps
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure Technologies including Azure Functions, Azure Service Bus, Azure Storage, Azure Data Factory and Azure Container Instances
  • Experience around Monitoring modern cloud-based systems will be beneficial
  • Knowledge of DataBricks or Spark.
  • PowerShell

Location: We embrace a hybrid working model at OS and understand there is no one size fits all in relation to how we work. We have a fantastic HQ in Southampton, Hampshire where you will be required to spend 1 to 3 days per week with the remaining time being a personal choice as to whether you work from home or spend more time at OSHQ.
