At Tradewind, we are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistant for a lovely primary school in the heart of Hackney. To support a child in Year 5 with behavioural issues and ADHD.
Responsibilities of the role:
- Provide support to the pupil on a 1:1 basis
- Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages the pupil to engage with their education.
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to develop and implement an individualised behaviour plan.
- Support in developing social skills and managing their emotions effectively.
- Foster and maintain a positive relationship, promoting their well-being and building trust.
- Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to the teaching staff and relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborate with parents/guardians, external agencies, and the wider school community to ensure effective communication and support for the pupil is carried through.
Requirements for the role:
- Previous experience working with pupils who have challenging behaviour or have been excluded from mainstream schools is desirable.
- A strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and strategies.
- Ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with pupils.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience when working with pupils facing emotional and behavioural challenges.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of the pupils.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
