The Fuel Your Finances project is delivered in Mansfield and Tower Hamlets/Aldgate, working alongside food provision such as FOOD Clubs and Food Stores. The project aims to help low income and vulnerable families to increase their income (or reduce their debt), reduce financial pressures, increase skills and advance skills and knowledge in cooking and energy usage.

We are now looking for two Support Workers to join our Fuel Your Finances team on part-time basis, working 22.2 hours per week, for a fixed-term contract from 1st October 2024 until 31st March 2026.

The Role

As a Support Worker, you will deliver the Fuel Your Finances project in Mansfield, aiming to
improve mental health and wellbeing in low income and vulnerable families.

You will deliver face-to-face 1-2-1 sessions and group workshops at various community venues, such as schools and children's centres. These sessions aim to achieve positive outcomes, including increased income, reduced financial pressures and stress, and enhanced skills and confidence around energy-efficient and healthy cooking and heating.

Working closely with a wide range of local organisations and teams, you will collaborate with FOOD Clubs/Stores, local charities, and local authority staff to ensure comprehensive support for the community. You will keep an updated spreadsheet of local and national resources for support service users.

Additionally, you will:

- Keep accurate and organised project records, including attendance lists and risk assessments
- Conduct surveys with clients to identify the impact of your team's work
- Attend staff meetings and events as requested by the Project Manager

About You

To be considered as a Support Worker, you will need:

- Experience of working in services that deliver positive outcomes for individuals and their
families
- Experience of designing and delivering 1-2-1 sessions and group workshops
- Experience of giving advice and support, and/or signposting to appropriate services
- Experience of developing and sustaining positive relationships with colleagues, partners
and other stakeholders
- An understanding of the effects of fuel and food poverty on low income and disadvantaged
families
- Working knowledge of health and safety issues
- A qualification and experience in health, social care, education, counselling, or a related
professional qualification equivalent to at least NVQ level 3
