Health and Safety Manager

Location: Holme-On-Spalding-Moor, East Riding of Yorkshire

Salary: £20 - £22.50 per hour

6 Month Fixed Term Contract

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Environmental and EH&S Coordination: Ensure active involvement from all relevant parties in Environmental and EH&S matters.
  • Production Area Engagement: Spend at least 50% of your time in production areas to ensure a hands-on approach.
  • Journey to Excellence: Participate, promote, and encourage the company's 'Journey to Excellence' through root cause analysis using 5S Lean Techniques. Be aware of the safety of yourself and others to develop a safer working environment.
  • EHS Culture Promotion: Engage with colleagues at all levels to foster a highly engaged EHS culture through behavioural observations, coaching, analysis, communication, and engagement.
  • Management Systems Development: Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of management systems supporting recognized EHS certifications and other standards in conjunction with the Head of EHS.
  • Project Leadership: Lead subject-specific projects, including multi-discipline team members at the site or across multiple group sites, applying knowledge and experience as directed by the Head of EHS.
  • Standards Maintenance: Support site management to maintain relevant ISO/other standards (ISO14001/45001/MCerts etc.).
  • Legal Compliance: Assist in managing departmental functions and issues to ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and other EHS requirements. Coordinate evaluation of EHS legal compliance as required.
  • Staff Support and Training: Coach, advise, and support all staff to ensure robust and maintained safe systems of work. Identify EHS training requirements, monitor compliance, and ensure resources are available. Deliver specific EHS training, including site induction, across the Group.
  • Incident Management: Maintain and administer the Incident Management System, ensuring all incidents are investigated to root cause and sufficiently closed out.
  • Reporting and KPIs: Monitor and ensure timely communication of required reports and KPIs.
  • Risk Assessment Management: Manage the site risk assessment register, monitor action completion, sign off risk assessments produced by management, and support specialist risk assessment completion.
  • Aspect and Impact Management: Manage site aspects and impact log to identify risks and opportunities, and agree on actions.
  • Communication and Awareness: Ensure effective communication of EHS issues through regular meetings, briefings, and consultations at site EHS forums.
  • System Effectiveness Monitoring: Ensure systems are in place to monitor, measure, and confirm effectiveness through evaluation, identifying and addressing non-conformities via corrective action procedures.
  • EHS Project Input: Provide EHS input to projects and identify and implement continual improvements.
  • Internal EHS Auditing: Administer and review the Internal EHS Auditing system, ensuring all audits are completed as scheduled, and corrective actions are closed out on time.
  • Audit Hosting: Host internal and external EHS audits with site management and monitor action progress to completion.
  • Regulator and Interested Parties Visits: Host visits ensuring compliance with EHS standards and resolving any actions and communications with the site management team.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a similar Health and Safety managerial role.
  • Knowledge of EHS certifications and standards (ISO14001/45001/MCerts).
