Job Title: KS2 Teaching Assistant - General TA

School: Mainstream Primary School near Garstang

Start Date: Week commencing Monday 2nd September 2024

Hours: 9.30am until 3.20pm, Monday to Friday (additional hours over lunch are also available)

Teaching Assistants play a vital role in supporting teachers and enhancing the educational experience of children in schools.

A school in the Garstang area are looking for a qualified and dedicated TA to support the classroom teacher in the delivery of the Key Stage 2 curriculum, help manage classroom activities, and assist in the overall development and well-being of the pupils.

Key Responsibilities:

Classroom Support:

  • Assist the teacher in preparing and organizing classroom materials and resources.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Support pupils individually or in small groups to reinforce learning and help them achieve their potential.
  • Assist with the implementation of lesson plans and educational activities.
  • Provide feedback to the teacher on pupil progress and areas needing attention.

Individual Pupil Support:

  • Provide tailored support (EHC Plan) to pupils with special educational needs (SEN)
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Monitor and record the progress of pupils, reporting any issues to the teacher.

Administrative Duties:

  • Help with administrative tasks such as photocopying, filing, and record-keeping.
  • Prepare and maintain classroom displays and learning resources.

Supervision:

  • Supervise pupils during break times, lunchtimes, and on school trips or outings.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of pupils at all times.

Parental Engagement:

  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, as directed by the teacher, to discuss pupil progress and behaviour.

Professional Development:

  • Participate in training and development opportunities to improve skills and knowledge relevant to the role.
  • Stay informed about educational best practices and policies.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Educational background with a minimum level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification.
  • Additional qualifications in education or child development are advantageous.

Experience:

  • Previous experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.

Skills:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards children.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Basic IT skills for administrative tasks.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Knowledge of the Key Stage 2 curriculum and educational strategies.
