PE Learning Support Assistant

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced PE Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting students in Key Stage 3 and 4, particularly those with Autism, ADHD, and Dyslexia, ensuring they have a positive and successful learning experience in physical education and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with special educational needs (SEN), including Autism, ADHD, and Dyslexia, during PE lessons.
  • Work closely with the PE teacher to implement individualised learning strategies that enhance student engagement and progress.
  • Support the delivery of lessons, adapting tasks as necessary to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Assist in managing challenging behaviours by applying effective behaviour management strategies.
  • Promote positive social interactions and emotional well-being, fostering an inclusive environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and contribute to reports and reviews.
  • Communicate regularly with teaching staff, parents, and SEN coordinators regarding student progress and areas for development.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with KS3/KS4 students with special educational needs, specifically Autism, ADHD, and Dyslexia.
  • A solid understanding of strategies to support teaching and learning for students with SEN, particularly in a physical education setting.
  • Strong behaviour management skills, with the ability to implement and maintain positive behaviour strategies.
  • Confident, patient, and adaptable, with the ability to build strong relationships with students and staff.
  • A passion for physical education and supporting students to achieve their full potential.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a school environment or within an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
