A reputable family-owned main contractor with a turnover of approximately £60m, specialising in new build, design and build, refurbishment, and fit-out works, is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their dynamic team. Operating primarily in London and the Northern Home Counties, this established firm manages contracts ranging from £100k to £15m across the retail, residential, community, education, healthcare, commercial, and defence sectors.

The Quantity Surveyor's Role

The successful Quantity Surveyor will initially manage a £5m Design and Build University Project in South West London. This project involves the internal refurbishment of two buildings on the campus, scheduled for completion in February 2025. The Quantity Surveyor Responsibilities:

  • Evaluating site potential and client budget feasibility.
  • Conducting periodic valuations to facilitate payment for completed work.
  • Breaking down projects into work packages and selecting subcontractors through competitive bidding.
  • Handling contractual and legal issues.
  • Monitoring and controlling costs to stay within budget.
  • Managing staff payments and finalising accounts at project completion.
  • Providing financial advice and progress reports to clients.

The Quantity Surveyor

  • Proven experience in Quantity Surveying, ideally within refurbishment and Design and Build projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes and contract management.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
  • Professional membership (e.g., MRICS) is preferred but not essential.

In Return?

  • Competitive salary range up to £70,000 but flexible for the right candidate.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, pension scheme, and annual leave.
  • Opportunities for career progression and professional development.
  • Supportive and collaborative work environment.
