The opportunity:

We have an exciting opportunity for an Underwriting Support Technician to join the Markel team in our London office. Underwriting Support Services (USS) is a centralised team based in our London, Fenchurch Street office. It is our role to provide a high quality, timely data capture and administrative service to our Wholesale underwriting teams and the business. This incorporates data entry of insurance policy information, data uploads, amendments, quality checking and system and process query management.

What you'll be doing:

  • Perform data entry of insurance information into in-house systems to agreed, defined standards of accuracy and timeliness
  • Demonstrate a consistent high quality customer focus and service delivery
  • Manage daily workflow and business queries efficiently
  • Develop class specific insurance knowledge to support the role
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with Underwriting teams
  • Attend Underwriting meetings when required
  • Perform ad hoc operational duties to support the team

Our must haves:

  • Demonstrate high levels of accuracy with close attention to detail
  • Computer literate, with the ability to develop a full understanding of in-house and Microsoft systems
  • Educated to A-level standard or equivalent would be beneficial
  • Experience in the insurance industry ideal but not essential !
  • Enjoy working in a busy team environment - be willing to provide cover for team members and enjoy helping peers
