Avocet Commercial Careers is looking for a dynamic, highly organised Building Society Clerk to support our client's Building Society Agency. This varied role offers the perfect blend of customer interaction and administrative responsibilities, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Building Society Clerk Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily office opening and closing procedures
  • Maintain a clean, professional, and welcoming reception area and meeting rooms
  • Process financial transactions including deposits, withdrawals, and account openings
  • Perform cashier duties with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Execute administrative tasks in compliance with Yorkshire Building Society procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Answer phone calls promptly, take accurate messages, and manage customer inquiries
  • Greet and assist customers, external visitors, and contractors, ensuring a smooth office operation
  • Adapt to additional duties and projects as required, maintaining flexibility in your role

Building Society Clerk Requirements:

  • GCSE Mathematics (Grade 4/5/C or higher) or equivalent, demonstrating solid numeracy skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Banking or money handling experience preferred but not essential, as full training will be provided
  • Positive attitude with a friendly and approachable demeanour
  • Resilience and ability to multitask in a dynamic environment
  • Strong organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and flexibly
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt to various communication needs
  • Proficient computer skills (additional training available if needed)
  • Discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive information
  • Team-oriented approach with the ability to build strong working relationships

Benefits:

  • 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday (part-time/job-share options available)
  • Working hours: 8:50 AM - 5:05 PM with a 1-hour lunch break
  • Flexible work location: Minimum 3 days in Seaton office, with up to 2 days in Axminster (regularly) or Honiton (occasionally)
  • 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing to 25 days after 3 years of service
