SEMH/ASD Class Teacher

  • Year 3 class teacher
  • Planning & marking (Full teaching role)
  • Full-Time
  • BS10 (Bristol)
  • September Start

Here at Long-Term Teachers, we are working closely with a Special primary school in the Bristol area. They are seeking a class teacher to work on a full-time basis leading a Year 3 class of SEMH & ASD students.

This wonderful school looks after a range of special needs but primarily are focused around SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs). The school is beautiful and very well established with exciting changes coming to the school over the next year.

The Role

This role is a full-time position, where the successful candidate will be expected to lead a class of Year 3 students being ably supported by a couple of TA's. The role would be a full teaching role so you will be expected to plan and mark your own lessons but adequate PPA time will be provided.

Due to the needs of the students it is essential that you feel confident in dealing with challenging behaviour and have worked with SEMH/ASD students before. They are open to applications from teachers that have more of a mainstream teaching background.

You will be expected to:

  • Be adaptable and flexible around the needs of the pupils.
  • Have good experience of working with SEMH/ASD.
  • Confidently lead your TA's in their own personal development.
  • Work in close proximity with the SENCO in providing individualised support to each of your pupils.
  • Support students on a personal level as well as educational.
