Senior Probation Officer- PQIP Mentor

Our agency is seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Probation Officer to join our team as a mentor for Probation Qualification in Practice (PQIP) trainees in South London. This pivotal role involves guiding and supporting the next generation of probation officers, ensuring they develop the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in their careers. We are looking for an individual who will Inspire and motivate PQIP trainees to reach their full potential, instilling confidence and enthusiasm in their work.

Location: South London- Working between (East Hill, Wandsworth and High Path, Wimbledon)

Contract: 3 months (to be extended)

Work hours: Full time

Salary: £31.08 Umbrella, £23.85 PAYE

Your duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Mentoring and Development: Provide comprehensive mentoring to PQIP trainees, offering guidance, support, and feedback to foster their professional growth and development.
  • Training and Induction: Facilitate training sessions and induction programs for new PQIP trainees, ensuring they are well-equipped to meet the demands of the role.
  • Supervision and Evaluation: Conduct regular supervision meetings to monitor progress, assess performance, and identify areas for improvement. Provide constructive feedback and create development plans.
  • Case Management Support: Assist trainees in managing complex cases, offering advice on best practices and strategies for effective case management.
  • Professional Standards: Promote adherence to professional standards and ethical guidelines within the probation service.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other Senior Probation Officers, management, and external agencies to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment for trainees.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate records of trainee progress and provide regular reports to senior management on the effectiveness of the mentoring program.

Person Specification

  • Education: A degree in criminal justice, social work, or a related field.
  • Experience: Significant experience as a Senior Probation Officer, with a proven track record in case management and mentoring or training roles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and develop others.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making capabilities.

Alternatively, if these roles are not for you but you do know somebody who would be interested please send them over for an incentive bonus of £75.

You will require a DBS check for this role. We are able to process a DBS Check for you for you which is a requirement for this position.
